Dragon Quest IX: The Assassin's Dagger still has a chance to instantly kill the foe it hits, but also gives the holder +54 Attack.
This can nonetheless come in useful, for example grinding off members of the metal slime family, when it will always do 1 damage even where other weapons would miss.
