Dragon Quest Monsters: Super Light (ドラゴンクエストモンスターズ スーパーライト), also abbreviated DQM: Super Light (DQMスーパーライト) is an Android/iOS role-playing game published by Square Enix on 23 January 2014. A characteristic unique to this game is that it adds characters from the whole Dragon Quest franchise; not just the video games, but also from the manga and anime, such as The Adventure of Dai and Emblem of Roto.

Although never released outside of Asia, an English version was available in the Southeastern Asia version released by Garena[2] but the servers were shut down on the 26th of December 2016, with their last update on 22 April of the same year.[3]

The game will end service on 31 January 2024, 10 years after its launch[4]. Developers cited the changing tastes of the game's player base and inflationary pressures as factors in this decision, but also felt that the timing of the closure was appropriate for a title that has lasted as long. Sales of premium content were discontinued 23 October 2023 in accordance with a customary 90-day sunset period.

Story[]

The game starts out by introducing the player to a monster named Watabou, who explains what is going on in the Super Light world. He explains that he is not sure why certain monsters are suddenly attacking, but he knows that the player is the perfect person to look into it. He then demonstrates monster fighting, dungeon crawling, and even how to buy things in the store. Watabou acts as a support character for the first few quests, but later disappears and serves only to answer questions.

As the player progresses through the dungeons, the player can make new monster friends and add them to the battling team, collect gold that can be used to buy new maps, and collect all kinds of items that can be used in battle. The more battles, the stronger the monsters get; unfortunately, Super Light operates with a stamina system that restricts how often dungeons can be explored.
