Heaven's Above Abbey is a church in Dragon Quest V. Located southeast of Whealbrook, south-southwest of Fortuna, and southwest of Coburg, the church serves as the starting point for the game's second generation of heroes.
Synopsis[]
Second generation[]
At some point during their time as slaves, the Hero, Harry, and Maria are set adrift in a cargo barrel by Maria's brother Joshua. They wash ashore at the Abbey, where the Order of Nuns of the Above nurses them back to health. Maria stays behind to become an acolyte of the Goddess, while the two men venture forth to assess what has transpired in the last decade, as well as to carry out Pankraz's last request. Heading northward from the Abbey, the pair passes through Fortuna and finds Whealbrook sacked, at which point Harry suggests continuing to Coburg.
Upon entry, the pair finds the kingdom in distress over the queen dowager's decision to fortify the area and hire conscripts from other parts of the world to assist. King Wilbur somewhat blindly obliges to her orders, being her son. However, he does suspect strange activity; thus, when the Hero and Harry arrive, he asks them to look into the matter. Using the key given them, the Hero and Harry encounter a teleportal back to the south near an odd tower. The door to the tower is shut fast. The Abbey is in sight as well, so the pair returns there.
The nuns yield clues about Ra's mirror being in the tower, and only a blessed servitor of the Goddess can open the way. However, all the nuns are occupied with other business. Maria, though still in training, agrees to help the Hero's party.
Third generation[]
