Helmunaptra is a castle and surrounding kingdom in Dragon Quest V set in the desert. It has an Egyptian theme, is the location of the Zenithian helmet and is ruled over by Queen Cleohatra, who has the power of seeing visons of the future.

The settlement was created centuries ago by an unspecified member of the Legendary Hero's companions, the Chosen, as a way to safely store the Zenithian helmet, as the founder had a premonition of it being needed one day to save the world.

If the Hero visits the place before his children are born, Cleohatra will ask him to try on the Zenithian helmet. When she realizes he is not the legendary hero she will take the helmet back. Only when the Hero visits her with his son will she give up the helmet.

Trivia[]

  • Helmunaptra may be the result of the Immigrant Town built by Hank Hoffman Jr. and the Hero of Dragon Quest IV; however, its general location its nowhere near at where immigrant town was located before, other than being similarly located in a desertic area. On the other hand, it was Meena who was the one who had premonitions of the future, in the form of fortune-telling, similar to the mysterious founder and Queen Cleohatra, as well as their powers of perception; also, Meena was native of the Siroc continent, which was very close to Helmunaptra's location. Lastly, Cleohatra is depicted with an appearance very similar to Meena, making it very likely that Meena is the mysterious founder.
    • However, as a counterpoint, it should be noted that the familiy of Alena, as shown by her father, also had in their bloodline divination powers, that worked differently from Meena's fortune-telling and more similar to Cleohatra's clear cut visions, and while it may be unlikely that the Tsarevna of a nation like Zamoksva would go and found a different kingdom, it is not unheard of.
  • Helmunaptra was named so because it contained the Zenithian helmet. "Helmun" sounds similar to Helmet combined with Hamunaptra, the fictitious egyptian "city of the death" from the 1999 movie, The Mummy.
    • The name "Cleohatra" is a pun on Cleopatra, the legendary queen of egypt.
