Kaya is a character found in Verdham in the game Dragon Quest VII
History
Kaya works as a servant to Borlock, the owner of Verdham's herb garden. She is in love with Iwan, Borlock's son. However, he is in love with Linda who, in turn, is love with Pepe.
One day, a Gray Rain falls on the residents of Verdham. This is caused by the Rainmaker.
Verdham
After the party defeats the Rainmaker, they use the Angel Tear and the residents return to normal.
After Pepe recovers, they hold a feast to celebrate his recovery. Kaya cooks all of Iwan's favorites for the party. While everyone is enjoying the food, she talks with Pepe outside the party. She tries convince him to elope with Linda in order to get rid of the competition for Iwan's affections. He refuses, stating that it would just cause trouble for his family.
After it rains, Kaya is disappointed that the rain will wash the poison away. She tells the party that it is a joke, which causes Ruff to say that it isn't funny to joke about poisoning food. She returns to Borlock's house.
Inside, Iwan and Kaya are talking about Linda when suddenly, she kisses him. Iwan removes himself from her embrace. Kaya spits out that this is probably what Linda and Pepe are doing but he refuses to believe it.
When Pepe leaves town, Kaya is disappointed that Pepe didn't take Linda with her.
Interim
Iwan loses the mansion to Kadasol. Kaya marries Kasadol and becomes lady of the house. She still has feelings for Iwan, shown by Kaya paying off his bar tab. Unbeknownst to Kasadol, Kaya has been poisoning Kasadol slowly with an addictive poison, putting it in his food. This has been disguised to the other villagers as tending to her sick husband.
30 Years Later
Kaya is preparing her husband's meal as usual when she puts too much poison in his food. Believing that someone would get suspicious if Kasadol dies too quickly, she has her maids throw the food away. She goes to see Iwan. She tells him that she still loves him, but Iwan won't hear of it. Iwan says that she has a good life and she shouldn't throw it away because of him. Kaya says that she isn't doing this for Iwan's sake but for her own. He notices the rope holding a vial
Cherri, one of the housemaids, believing that it would be a waste of food, feeds Kaya's cooking to her dog, Kopan. When Kopan eats it, he becomes poisoned. Cherri brings it to the attention of Kaya who becomes indignant at the fact that she would deliberately poison her husband. She resolves to fire Cherri later in the future.
Kaya walks out of the mansion. As she does, the string holding the vial of poison breaks. However, Kaya doesn't notice. She continues to Iwan's house.
Kaya prepares lunch for her husband, laced with poison. Kadasol is about to eat when Cherri comes in and tells the master of the house that the food is cooked with poison. Kadasol refuses to believe that it is poison but Cherri gives proof. She shows him the vial which Kaya always carried. Kadasol notices it as the vial which Kaya told him was medicine. Kaya denies the accusations but Kadasol tells her to drink the contents of the vial to prove her innocence. It is at this point that Iwan comes in. He tells Kadasol that she poisoned him on her orders. Kadasol throws both of them out of the house. Iwan motions for Kaya to come with him and the two leave town, never to be heard from again.
