Mercurial Thrust is a recurring ability in the Dragon Quest series.

Gives the user an immense priority in turn order, often going first.
Appearances[]
Dragon Quest VI[]
Making its debut, it has the third highest priority of any ability in the game, trailing behind only Double Up and Kaclang, but attack power is reduced to 80% when used. It is already learned by Terry when he is recruited, and is also obtained by advancing to rank 5 of the Warrior vocation and costs 0 MP to use. It is also used by Animated armours, Octavian pirates, Brock, Zozagel, and Mortamor in his second forme in battle.
Dragon Quest VII[]
Mercurial Thrust operates exactly as it did in the previous game, and is learned by reaching rank 4 of the Warrior vocation, rank 2 of the Berserker vocation, and rank 7 of the Notso macho vocation, costing 0 MP to use once again.
Dragon Quest VIII[]
Acting the same as in VI and VII, it is learned by the Hero after investing 7 skill points into the Spear skill tree, costing 0 MP to use once again. Unlike in its last two appearances, it is restricted to the Spears weapon line.
Dragon Quest IX[]
Learned with 3 skill points invested into the Spear skill tree, it acts the same as in previous appearances and costs 0 MP to use once again. It is also used by Bewarewolves and Lesionnaires in battle against enemies.
