A metal slime (formerly Metal Slime and Metaly) is a monster who appears in the Dragon Quest game series.
Characteristics
A Metal Slime is basically the same as a Slime, but with a different colour scheme, it is a metallic silver instead of a vibrant blue. The metal slime has a very small hitpool, but very high defence values, meaning that most attacks will either miss, or deal 1-2pts of damage. Metal Slimes also tend to flee very often, so killing them is harder than just whittling away its HP. Metal Slimes tend to have fantastic agility, so they may even flee before any of your characters can move. Crit or miss abilities tend to be very good for killing with Metal Slimes. When killed, the player receives a very high amount of EXP, often enough to level several times over.

Trivia
- In VIII, there is an infamous Metal Slime which, when scouted, is named "Metaly" as a tribute to its original name.
- The Metal Flan from Final Fantasy The 4 Heroes of Light, may be reference to the Metal slime, because it yields a lot of experience when killed and is hard to find.
