The Seed of magic is a recurring item in the Dragon Quest (series) that permanently raises the maximum MP to whoever eats it. This can be apply to characters without any MP at all. The amount varies from game to game. This seed can be found in treasure chests, pots, drawers and bags. It can also be stolen from or dropped by certain enemies. They cannot be bought.
Appearances
Dragon Quest
Although absent from the original NES version, they can be found in the SNES and Gameboy Color remakes of Dragon Quest. Due to text limitations in the Gameboy Color remake of Dragon Quest, Seed of magic was renamed to MysticNut.
Dragon Quest IV
This version of the seed will increase a character's maximum MP by 3-5 points randomly.
Dragon Quest VIII
This seed will increase a character's maximum MP by3-4 points randomly.
Dragon Quest IX
Seed of magic boosts Max MP by 3. It can be acquired as a reward for certain quests, or as a rare drop from sorcerers (a 1/256 chance). They usually give you 3 MP when you use them. They can't be sold for that much either. You will be lucky if a monster drops one after you fight it, but remember not all types of monsters have it.
