War Cry is a technique used by Martial Artists in the games they appear in. It is used in order to stun or scare opponents. It uses 0 MP to cast, but the chance of success is somewhat low. However, it can be very helpful in stunning enemies that can cause various status ailments to the party, provided the selected character is faster.
Dragon Quest V
Dragon Quest V introduces the skill, but can only be used by certain monster companions; Moosifer, Battle Pip, and Saber are just a few.
Dragon Quest VI
A level 5 Merchant is capable of using War Cry. To obtain a level 5 rank, one needs to win at least 16 battles, bringing the battle count total to 40.
Dragon Quest VIII
Yangus is the only character that can use War Cry, and needs 32 points allocated to his Humanity skill.
Dragon Quest IX
A character in the Martial Artist vocation can utilize this slightly risky ability with at least 4 points in the Focus Skill. The ability is also needed to complete a quest found at the entrance to Alltrades Abbey.
Dragon Quest Monsters 2
In Dragon Quest Monsters 2, the skill is obtained by recruiting or breeding for Fangslime, Drygon, Yeti, GulpBeast, Eyeball, EvilWell, and MerTiger.
Dragon Quest Monsters Joker/Joker 2
Dragon Quest Monsters Joker, and Joker 2, bring back WarCry through a small handful of skillsets.
In the original Joker, the skill can be found in the following skills:
- Dr. Snapped
- Dragon Lore
- Fire Fighter
- Boom Boxer
In Joker 2, War Cry can be found in the same skillsets, but with the inclusion of the following:
- Vile Void
