The Zenithia trilogy (天空シリーズ Tenkū Shirīzu lit. Castle in the Sky series) is the general term used to describe the 4th, 5th, and 6th installments of the Dragon Quest series; arising from the presence of a Zenithian Sky Castle found in each game. This group was often called the Tenku (Japanese for Heaven, or Sky) or the Tenku no Shiro (lit. Castle in the Sky) trilogy until Square Enix branded them as the Zenithia trilogy in 2008. Despite this, the timeframe in which each title is setted is so far removed from one another, being separated by millenia if not eons of history, that the plots of these three games are much more loosely connected with one another compared to the previous three titles, the so called Erdrick trilogy, with only passing mentions and few recurring elements tying them together into a single narrative.

One such common feature of these three games is the dark underworld, known as Nadiria in the DS remakes. This evil counterpart to Zenithia, is the realm of the main final boss of each game (not including bonus dungeons).
